Baked apples are one of the simplest desserts there is. Only often they are shriveled and not necessarily caramelized. This is why I am offering you the ULTIMATE (yes, really) baked apple recipe. Here I use pink lady for their outfit and their little acidity. The apple cooks slowly in salted butter and sugar. Watered regularly, a caramel skin forms. I have tried several of the baked apple recipes and this is by far the most successful.
The extra thing:
- I recommend avoiding using the convection heat of the oven for this recipe because it tends to wilt the apple, prefer a sole / top cooking for better holding.
