Funnel cakes are a cross between donuts and typically American churros. They are often found at fairs. The dough is super simple to prepare and they are plunged into a frying bath using a funnel. They are then sprinkled with icing sugar. Guaranteed payback.
For this recipe, I used:
- A funnel
The extra thing:
- Make vanilla icing sugar by putting powdered sugar and vanilla in a coffee grinder
- If there are a few lumps (which is unlikely), you can mix everything with an immersion blender
Ingredients
120g flour | |
1 tbsp baking powder | |
1 pinch of salt | |
2 packets of vanilla sugar | |
200ml milk | |
1 large egg | |
frying oil | |
icing sugar pour saupoudrer |
Instructions

Sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl.
Add vanilla sugar, salt, milk and egg. Mix everything to obtain a homogeneous mixture. |

Bring the oil to a low boil.

Swirl the batter through the funnel over the deep fryer.
Let brown. |

Line a plate with paper towel.
Collect the funnel cakes using a slotted spoon and place them on the paper towel. |
